Covid Information

June 4, 2022 - Covid-19 Protocols

The following protocols remain in effect in our Home, for the safety of everyone!

The COVID-19 case counts remain high and we ask that you do not visit the Home if you are feeling unwell or have been potentially exposed to a suspect or confirmed case of COVID-19. We are always happy to arrange a virtual visit. We also strongly encourage good hand hygiene and use of masks when out in public settings.


Masking
- The Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) has extended the mask mandate in retirement homes through to June 11th. Mandatory masking remains in effect for all persons entering our Home, including residents if tolerated.

Active screening - All persons entering our Home must complete an active screening form.

Surveillance Testing - All persons entering our Home will be asked to rapid test daily.

A reminder that due to a reduced capacity for physical distancing we ask that you prebook your visits, including if you wish to dine with your loved one or participate in an event or activity in the home. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Absences
  • Residents who go on short term absences will not require a rapid antigen test (RATs) following each absence unless they have been exposed to a potential COVID-19 case.
  • Residents who go out on overnight absences will receive a rapid test upon their return.
  • Residents must continue to follow public health measures during all absences and will also be screened upon return.
  • No isolation is required for short term or overnight absences unless the resident receives a positive test result. This testing does not apply if a resident has tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 30 days.
Social Gathering and Organized Events
  • We ask that you contact the Home to prebook your participation for any events, due to physical distancing requirements.
  • Social gathering and organized events are permitted at all times including higher intensity exercise classes (e.g. cardio) and social activities that include singing, dancing, and performing music.
  • General Visitors (including facilitators) may attend social gatherings and organized events if they pass active screening and demonstrate a negative RAT. Residents, staff, and Essential Visitors may continue to attend social gatherings and organized events.
Communal Dining
  • Unless otherwise advised by the local PHU, communal dining is always permitted with public health measures in place.
  • Residents may socialize with other residents.
  • Buffet and shared dish meal services are permitted.
All Visitors
  • Do not visit the home if you are feeling unwell or have had a close or suspected contact with someone who is COVID-19 positive.
  • Ensure you are always wearing the appropriate PPE when in the home, this includes keeping a mask in place when visiting in your loved one’s room.
